This course begins by explaining the first century environment as well as ancient methods of searching the Scriptures. You will learn to view Paul’s epistle with first century eyes, and will become part of the first century audience in order to understand Paul’s original message. This series of audio lectures does not suggest “what to believe,” but teaches ancient tools, methods and techniques that Paul would have been using, and examines Romans from that perspective. You will also be encouraged to identify your own tradition in order to test it with Scripture. Then you will learn to argue from Scripture to support your conclusions in the same way that Paul crafted his arguments. Throughout this lecture series, you will be encouraged to apply Paul’s wonderful messages, originally intended for an ancient audience, to your life today.
